Forester
Peter Kuitenbrouwer, Registered Professional Forester

I am a graduate of the Master of Forest Conservation at the University of Toronto. As a registered professional forester, I provide forest services: I write forest management plans and offer services including tree marking and forest management to clients, mainly in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program
Learn to look after your forest and lower your taxes
The Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program encourages good forest management by giving a property tax reduction to eligible Ontario woodlot owners who prepare and follow an approved plan. As a Managed Forest Plan Approver, I have written dozens of managed forest plans in the counties of Hastings, Prince Edward, Central Frontenac, Lanark and Northumberland. I love to spend time with landowner(s) in their woodlot: they show me around and discuss their passion for the natural world and its creatures; I work with them to inventory their forest and talk about its nuances and its potential.
Forest Management
Helping you improve forest health
As a forest manager, I help my clients to control invasive plants, thin red pine and white pine plantations, mark hardwood forests for harvest, design trail networks, and tap trees for maple syrup.
Tree Marking
Any tree you cut should make your forest happier
Tree markers help ensure the sustainability of Ontario’s public and private woodlands by making ‘cut and leave’ decisions for individual trees. Forests Canada and the Canadian Institute of Forestry have certified Peter Kuitenbrouwer to mark trees under the Tolerant Hardwood Selection System. I am happy to mark your forest, to ensure a healthy forest post-harvest.

For 75 years, Forests Canada has worked to improve forest health, support ecosystem services, and foster a community connection with nature—plus planted more than 50 million trees. I joined Forests Canada in 2019 as a communications consultant. At present I am editor of the organization’s magazine, Our Forest, founded in 1961.
